BOSTON – The 10 highest paid employees in the University of Massachusetts system are on track to receive an average of $452,345 in base pay this year, according to the Boston Business Journal’s DataCenter.

Massachusetts is slated to pay 2,815 education department and higher-education employees across the Bay State at least $100,000 this year, with 164 employees to collect more than $200,000.

UMass spokesman Robert Connolly told the news source that the payroll data does not include year-end bonuses, which can boost total compensation by as much as 50 percent.

UMass Medical School Chancelor Michael Collins will receive the largest base salary in the state, at $566,233 according to the Business Journal’s data.

Connolly told the news source that, including year-end bonuses, Collins will likely collect upwards of $761,314 – his 2011 compensation.

There is no data regarding UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Divina Grossman, who took up the position in April, but former Chancellor Jean F. MacCormack took home $292,100 in 2011.
