DARTMOUTH – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth faculty members are among those within the school whose creative-economy projects will benefit from $259,300 in grants from the President’s Creative Economy Initiative Fund announced last month.

“This fund allows the university to build partnerships with nonprofits and creative industries that spur economic development in the realm of the arts and culture, which are critically important to having a vibrant state,” UMass President Robert L. Caret said in a statement.

Among the nine UMass projects funded are professor Michael Griffin’s plan to help the New Bedford Museum of Glass build foot traffic, membership and research and grant capabilities and professors Thomas Stubblefield and Pamela Karimi’s efforts to showcase the role of the creative sector in the future economic revitalization of Massachusetts gateway cities such as New Bedford with lectures and a public art exhibition. •
