SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The University of Rhode Island’s Supply Chain Management Program has been named one of the best in the country by both Camcode, a supply chain technology company, and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, a professional organization for transportation and logistics professionals.

Camcode ranked URI’s program, within the College of Business Administration, among the top 25 such programs that have been approved by the Institute of Supply Management.

The institute is the primary U.S.-based industry association granting approvals to supply management degree programs.

The American Society of Transportation and Logistics included the program in a group of 28 academic programs in the nation. The inclusion means that URI supply chain majors automatically will receive the society’s certification in transportation and logistics upon graduation.

“One of the main reasons for our recognition is we are one of only 28 U.S. and Canadian universities and maritime institutes that have programs certified by ASTL. This has given us national and international recognition,” said Douglas Hales, business associate professor, in a statement. “University programs with this certification are the most rigorous in academia.”
