URI’s Lisberger earns Cal Poly fellowship

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – University of Rhode Island Gender and Women Studies Program Director and associate professor Jody Lisberger has been awarded a competitive fellowship to share her passion for teaching, social justice and liberal arts.
The fellowship, the Susan Currier Visiting Professorship for Teaching Excellence at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo invites Lisberger to teach two classes, present the annual Susan Currier Memorial Lecture, and participate in activities to promote teaching excellence.
Lisberger said the fellowship supports her teaching pedagogy and the honor of teaching.
Lisberger is looking forward to gaining a different perspective from the CalPoly students who enroll in one of her two courses: Critical Issues in Feminist Scholarship and Crossing Borders: Women Writing Their Lives.
An award-winning teacher, scholar and author, Lisberger was named director of URI’s Gender and Women’s Studies Program in 2008 and associate professor in 2012. •
