‘Uncle Junior’ teams with Friendly Home head

PROVIDENCE – Angelo Rotella, president and administrator of Friendly Home in Woonsocket and Berkshire Place in Providence, both nursing homes, recently headlined a fundraiser with Dominic Chianese, who starred as Uncle Junior on the popular HBO series “The Sopranos,” for Joy Through Art, a nonprofit Chianese founded to improve the quality of life for residents of long-term care centers.
The event was held as part of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living’s annual convention and expo in Tampa, Fla.
“For decades I’ve worked with many of Rhode Island’s uncles, aunts, grandparents, parents and friends,” Rotella said in a statement. “Joy Through Art is a wonderful program that brings happiness to these residents, who otherwise are unable to get out and be part of something like this.”
Rotella is a former chair of the association and has been an advocate for the Joy Through Art program. The event has raised nearly $7,600 for the organization’s mission.
