United Way seeks RFPs for grants

PROVIDENCE – United Way of Rhode Island has announced that is issuing new Requests for Proposals for grants for the funding period of July 2013-June 2016.
In a release, the United Way said the RFPs have been issued in accordance with an investment plan developed by its Community Investment Advisory Committee to identify community needs and implement impact strategies to facilitate social change. The requests also are issued at the direction of the organization’s board of directors.
RFPs are being sought for early childhood education, out of school time, basic needs, financial stability, work supports, and housing and homelessness.
“While we’ve made incredible progress, more must be done to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have the tools they need to succeed in life,” said Anthony Maione, president and CEO of United Way of Rhode Island, in a statement. “We know that when people have a safe, affordable place to live, a good education, and a higher-paying job, they can provide for themselves and their families. This is why we continue to focus our grant funding on the areas that Rhode Islanders care most about in order to impact the greatest number of lives.”
The RFPs are now available on United Way’s website, liveunitedri.org.
