Utilidata names chief information security officer

PROVIDENCE – Energy optimization company Utilidata Inc. has hired Siobhan MacDermott as the firm’s chief information security officer.
An industry veteran, MacDermott most recently served as chief policy officer of AVG Technologies and is a former executive at Intel Security, formerly McAfee Security. In her new role with Utilidata, she will oversee the company’s IT and product security programs.

Her deep knowledge of cyber security and critical infrastructure protection will be instrumental as Utilidata expands internationally,” said Scott E. DePasquale, chairman and CEO of Utilidata.“Siobhan has been recognized globally for her thought leadership on cyber security and privacy issues.”
In addition to her global policy experience, MacDermott has authored three books on cybersecurity and is currently working on a fourth. She holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a master’s degree in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
