Vector releases enhanced software-testing suite

EAST GREENWICH – Vector Software Inc. has unveiled the latest version of its embedded software-testing suite featuring new testing functions and integration with the Polarion Requirements and IBM Rational Team Concert software-development tools, the company announced Dec. 18.
The VectorCast 6.2 test suite delivers faster test generation and execution, as well as the smallest code-coverage footprint in the software test space, allowing customers with limited memory targets to perform coverage analysis with fewer test runs, Vector Software said. In addition, users of the latest VectorCast software will have access to streamlined editing features, multi-threaded parsing and compilation, and enhanced results reporting for faster testing.
A new incremental testing feature built into VectorCast 6.2 allows users to rerun only the subset of test cases that are impacted by a source-code change while maintaining all other test results and code coverage data. This new function accommodates continuous integration and testing, allowing for faster analysis of the impact of code changes and quicker execution of regression testing.
“VectorCast 6.2 makes software testing faster and easier than ever before,” said John Paliotta, chief technology officer at Vector Software, in a release. “Our goal is to maintain our position as the most innovative, full-featured and easy-to- use test tool in the world, and VectorCast 6.2 is another step toward that goal.”
The VectorCast software-testing line boasts the largest number of third-party tool integrations on the market, according to Vector Software. Version 6.2 adds new integrations with Polarion Requirements, providing developers with bi-directional mapping of requirements and test cases, and with IBM Rational Team Concert, Vector Software’s first collaboration with a defect-tracking tool.
