Verizon Wireless gives employees bonuses

NEW YORK – Rhode Island Verizon Wireless workers had “an extra something” in their pay envelopes on Feb. 17.

The company paid employees bonuses ranging from 6 percent to 10 percent of their base salaries. Bonuses are paid based on the company’s annual performance and individual employees’ performance.

Merit raises, starting at 2.5 percent, are slated to follow in coming weeks, a news release said.

Verizon said it invested $297 million in its New England wireless network in 2011, $100 million in Rhode Island.

Verizon also highlighted that it activated its 4G LTE network in Rhode Island in November in 21 communities, including the T.F. Green International Airport.
