Verizon adds 4G LTE service in West Warwick

WEST WARWICK – Verizon Wireless has recently activated new 4G LTE service in West Warwick.
This investment expands 4G coverage along Route 2 and I-95 in West Warwick, East Greenwich and Coventry.
Verizon’s 4G LTE network allows Verizon Wireless customers to “post status updates and photos, surf the Web, share music, and download files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks,” according to a Verizon release.
In fully loaded network environments, Verizon 4G LTE customers could experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second on the download and 2 to 5 megabits per second on the uplink.
Since 2000, Verizon has invested more than $3 billion into its New England network, including more than $297 million in 2011 alone, according to the company.
“We’ve always believed that the best wireless devices deserve the best wireless networks,” executive director for network for Verizon Wireless, Richard Enright said in prepared remarks.
“People across Rhode Island are increasingly relying on tablets, smartphones and apps to stay organized, connected and entertained,” said Enright. “Our investment in Kent County – and across New England – has kept us ahead of these consumer trends and underscores our belief that 4G LTE delivers the best value to customers by maximizing the performance of their wireless devices.”
