Leading Women, an organization which inspires, powers and honors the success of women leaders, today announced Victoria Waterman received the national award for “Excellence in Board Leadership” by Girls, Inc. Waterman serves as president of Leading Women Mass.

Several hundred staff leaders, board members, and community supporters representing Girls Inc. affiliates from the United States and Canada gathered in San Antonio, Texas for the annual National Conference and Awards Celebration.
"In just three years, under Victoria Waterman’s inspirational and visionary leadership, Girls Inc. of Worcester has regained its rightful place among the most respected and impactful nonprofit agencies in the area,” said Deb Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer of Girls Inc. of Worcester. “Within the past year, revenue increased and expenses decreased. Much credit for this dramatic turn-around is due to the new board member, donor and volunteer relationships that Victoria cultivated through personal and professional relationships with Leading Women Mass.”
“As a board leader, businesswoman and human being, Victoria personifies our strong, smart and bold vision of success. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition and appreciation," said Hopkins.
Sharing the stage with Waterman were fellow honorees from the Girls Inc. Worcester affiliate. Maureen Binienda, Principal of South High School, was honored with the “Distinguished Alumna” award and Anne McCarthy, Director of Communications and Volunteers, received the prestigious “Excellence in Staff Leadership” award.
"I am proud to be recognized for leading a turnaround affiliate and achieving extraordinary outcomes - all of which resulted from the laser sharp focus of our outstanding board, staff, and leadership on outcomes aligned with the Girls Inc. mission,” said Waterman. “I like to tell everyone ‘Today's Girls Are Tomorrow's Leading Women’.”
