VISION SCHOOL in Providence recently received a GTECH After School Advantage Computer lab. GTECH executives, local elected officials and staff and students from the school celebrated the lab’s completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Whitmarsh House’s Vision School in Providence is a recent recipient of one of GTECH Corp.’s After School Advantage Computer labs.
The $15,000 lab includes renovations to the school’s former lab, and the addition of eight desktop computers, educational software, workstations, a printer, a wireless router and a projector screen. The upgrades will assist in the school’s mission to integrate challenged students back into community schools.
GTECH executives and local elected officials, including Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, recently joined Vision School to celebrate the new lab with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“GTECH recognizes the value of transforming education and after-school time, and the addition of this computer lab will enhance and expand the program at the Vision School,” Taveras said.
The lab is part of GTECH’s tax stabilization agreement with Providence, in which a total of 30 computer labs will be opened in nonprofit organizations throughout Providence over a 10-year period. •
