PROVIDENCE – Fashionistas will have the chance to meet Vogue contributing editor Andre Leon Talley, also a Brown University alumnus, at a book signing for “The Little Black Dress,” which is being released in April, at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Arts on April 26.
The book signing is a special event associated with the museum’s new exhibition “Artist/Rebel/Dandy: Men of Fashion” that will run April 28 through Aug. 18 and feature more than 200 objects focusing on the persona and history of the “distinctively dressed figure of the dandy,” according to the museum.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated book.
“The exhibition and its companion book offer a sumptuous view of the power of clothing and fine craftsmanship,” said John W. Smith, RISD Museum director, in a statement. “It comes at a time of renewed appreciation for the nuances and attention to detail fo tradition tailoring but also innovation and boldness in menswear design.”
Other exhibition events include the Museum Associates Annual Gala Fundraiser on April 26 at the museum for which tickets are $500 per person, member-only events, and Tweed Ride PVD on April 28 during which “stylish and well-wheeled gents and ladies” will take a bicycle ride through downtown Providence departing from Kennedy Plaza.
