WCCU offering card reward points

WESTERLY – Westerly Community Credit Union is now offering new credit card reward points for all local purchases.
The credit union, based in Westerly, announced last week its Rewards & Business Platinum VISA credit card would offer members double reward points for any purchase made in Washington County, R.I, or New London County, Conn., according to a press release.
Steve White, Westerly Community Credit Union president and CEO, said in a statement he was excited about the decision to reward members who were shopping local.
“Encouraging our members to shop local creates a positive impact on the local businesses, employees working at those businesses and community as a whole,” White said. “We are proud to offer this new feature as an additional way we can help support our local community.”
Credit card members can redeem the reward points for cash, airline travel or merchandise through CURewards Mall, according to the release. The points redeemed for cash can be used to pay credit card bills, put into a Westerly Community Credit Union bank account or donated to charity, according to the bank. A maximum of four cash redemptions are allowed per year.
