Last week Women & Infants Hospital gained accreditation for transfusion services performed by the hospital’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine by the American Association of Blood Banks.
Accreditation was granted after a rigorous on-site assessment was conducted by AABB staff to verify that the facility’s technical and administrative capabilities met AABB standards.
“Our attending pathologists, laboratory managers, medical and histology technologists and technicians, and other staff members who deliver services to patients and other physicians have a specialized focus and depth of experience in diseases of women and children. Indeed, this AABB accreditation gives further assurance of the excellence of the services that we provide,” said Care New England Executive Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine W. Dwayne Lawrence in a press release.
