W&I center gets accreditation

PROVIDENCE – The Breast Health Center at Women & Infants Hospital has earned a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a consortium of professional organizations dedicating to improving care for patients with breast disease.
The accreditation followed a voluntary evaluation process, during which Women & Infants demonstrated proficiency in the areas of clinical management, quality improvement, research, professional education and center leadership. The center offers patients a multidisciplinary team approach to treatment options, information about clinical trials and new treatments, and comprehensive care close to home.
“This national honor is tribute to the dedicated and hard-working staff and the Breast Health Center’s commitment to offering our patients every advantage in their battle against breast disease,” Dr. Robert D. Legare, co-director of the center, said in a statement.
“We are thrilled to again achieve NAPBC accreditation,” Dr. Legare said.
Women & Infants has also been designated as a Breast Center of excellence from the American College of Radiography.
