W&I nurse receives national honor

PROVIDENCE – Women & Infants Hospital nurse Jane Holden was recently named a recipient of the Daisy Foundation’s program to honor nurses’ everyday valor in the workplace.

A nurse in the hospital’s mother-baby unit, Holden’s expertise in facilitating breastfeeding was one reason cited by the hospital for patients’ sense of gratitude toward her.

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, Calif., and was established by family members to remember the outstanding care received by their family member J. Patrick Barnes during his hospitalization for an auto-immune disease. Barnes died at the age of 33 in 1999.

Holden is the fourth recipient of the award at Women & Infants.
