PROVIDENCE – Apparently a lot of people are waiting anxiously around their television sets at 4:30 in the morning, just waiting for their newscast.

WPRI-TV CBS 12 will begin its Eyewitness News This Morning program weekdays at 4:30 a.m., a half hour earlier.

WPRI made the announcement on Nov. 11, just two days after competitor WJAR-TV NBC 10 extended its morning newscast. Both will begin the new programming hours Nov. 28.

WPRI’s anchors are Danielle North, Patrick Little and meteorologist Michelle Muscatello.

“This extra half hour really demonstrates our commitment to covering local news and weather,” said Joe Abouzeid, WPRI-12/Fox Providence news director. “Our morning show ratings are the highest they’ve ever been, and this is a great time to expand the coverage viewers have come to count on.”
