WWII Foundation/Tim Gray Media documentaries nominated for regional Emmy Awards

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – World War II Foundation/Tim Gray Media documentary films were nominated for eight regional Emmy Awards at the 39th annual Boston/New England Awards competition.
Nominations were announced Tuesday night in Boston.
Films nominated include: “Omaha Beach: Honor and Sacrifice” and “The American St. Nick.” Both documentaries are airing now on PBS stations.
“It’s always an honor just to be nominated,” Tim Gray, World War II Foundation chairman, said in a statement. “However, it’s a much bigger honor just to be able to sit down and talk to the veterans and survivors of World War II on a daily basis and make sure their stories don’t fade into history, but are documented for millions around the world to see and hear.”
Another World War II Foundation/Tim Gray Media documentary, “Doolittle’s Raiders: A Final Toast,” is being considered for nomination for an Emmy Award in the program category in the Washington, D.C., Emmy Awards competition.
Nominations in the New England competition were in the categories of: Outstanding Program (Omaha Beach), Outstanding Historical/Cultural Program (American St. Nick), Outstanding Program Writing (Tim Gray, Omaha Beach and American St. Nick), Outstanding Program Editing (Jim Karpeichik, Ocean State Video, American St. Nick), Outstanding Photography (Jim Karpeichik, Ocean State Video, Omaha Beach and American St. Nick) and Music (Roger Cichy, American St. Nick).
The Boston/New England Emmy Awards dinner will be held June 4th at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.
The nonprofit World War II Foundation travels the world chronicling personal stories of veterans and survivors of World War II for PBS. It has produced 16 documentary films to date, with three more in post-production.
It has received donations from Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, Gov. Tom Ridge, Bill Belichick, Dan Aykroyd, Ross Perot, Curt Schilling, Damian Lewis, Kyle Chandler, Fred Smith (CEO of FedEx), HBO and others.
