Wages rise for manufacturing workers

CRANSTON – Manufacturing workers in Rhode Island earned an average of $18.11 per hour in February, according to the R.I. Department of Labor and Training.

The average wage for Rhode Island’s manufacturing workers increased 38 cents from January and $3.15 from February 2011.

The Ocean State’s manufacturing employees worked an average of 40.1 hours per week in February, down four-tenths of an hour from January, but an hour and four-tenths more since February 2011.

Across the United State, the average manufacturing worker made $23.90 per hour and worked 41 hours per week in February, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

There were 41,000 manufacturing workers in Rhode Island in February, unchanged from January, but up 500 year-over-year from February 2011.
