WalletHub: Warwick residents have best credit scores among R.I. cities

PROVIDENCE – Warwick residents have the best average credit score in Rhode Island, according to WalletHub, which evaluated scores in 2,570 cities.
Warwick, for example, landed at No. 756 on the list for its score of 691.81.
Cranston was second among Rhode Island cities at No. 817 for its credit score of 689.4, followed by Newport at No. 855 with 687.67, Pawtucket at No. 1,988 with 647.77, Woonsocket at No. 2,141 with 641.95 and Providence at No. 2,275 with 635.76.
Among Bristol County, Mass., cities, Attleboro topped the list at No. 934 for its credit score of 685.09, followed by Taunton at No. 1,435 with its score of 666.98, New Bedford at No. 2,004 with 647.32 and Fall River at No. 2,083 with 644.54.
WalletHub discovered that The Villages in Florida had the best credit score at 779.51, while Camden, N.J., had the worst at 565.62.
“WalletHub’s analysts compared the average credit scores of residents in 2,570 U.S. cities to give credit where credit is literally and figuratively due,” the personal finance website stated.
The website’s analysts used TransUnion data to compare the average credit scores of residents in each of the cities as of September.
Two Massachusetts cities did crack the top 10 for having the best credit scores: Needham at No. 6 with 750.94 and Lexington at No. 7 with 750.59.
