In honor of its support as a blood collection sponsor, the Washington Trust Co. was recently presented a framed print from the Rhode Island Blood Center.
The picture was given as part of the blood center’s Seasons’ Pass program, which was developed to encourage blood donations or sponsorship of blood drives four or more times a year. Those who participate later receive a print created by a local artist.
This year’s print was created by Kendra Ferreira and depicts yachts racing in Newport.
This is the ninth year Washington Trust has participated in the Seasons’ Pass program. The company sponsored 27 drives last year and has helped to collect nearly 1,000 pints of blood during the last three years.
“That’s quite an investment in the community,” said Jennifer Whelihan, the blood center’s account manager for South County.
Washington trust holds blood drives at its corporate headquarters in Westerly, in addition to many of its branches located throughout Rhode Island.
