EAST PROVIDENCE – Washington Trust has opened its newest branch in East Providence, located at 587 Taunton Ave.

The bank celebrated the opening with a kick-off event on Oct. 1 that included raffles and giveaways.

The 5,600-square-foot branch is the bank’s 16th in Rhode Island and offers five walk-up teller positions, one of which is ADA compliant, two drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM, night depository, safe deposit boxes and a walk-up ATM. The location will offer a full range of services for consumers, businesses and investors.

“The Washington Trust Company has a 211-year history of being a sound financial institution; dedicated to the communities it serves,” said branch manager and bank vice president Paul J. Tavares, the former R.I. general treasurer. “We are excited to bring our quality products, service, and talented staff to the East Providence and East Bay communities.”
