Washington Trust opens new Johnston branch

WESTERLY – Washington Trust celebrated the opening of its new Johnston branch, the bank’s 19th location, with a ribbon cutting attended by state and local officials and bank representatives on May 29.
“It may have taken us 214 years, but ‘Rhode Island’s bank of choice’ is now in Johnston,” Washington Trust Chairman and CEO Joseph MarcAurle said at the ceremony, referring to the bank’s founding in 1800 and it’s first Johnston branch. “We are pleased to serve the businesses and residents of the town.”
During the ceremony, Washington Trust President Ned Handy and Johnston Branch Manager Dan Orovitz presented a check to Joann Quinn, executive director of the Autism Project of Rhode Island, the bank’s first community partner in Johnston.
The bank’s 5,400-square-foot branch in Johnston is at 1383 Atwood Ave., the former site of Ribs & Company restaurant.
