Water park opens at Providence rec center

PROVIDENCE – The city has opened a free water park, an outdoor play space at Joslin Recreation Center that is designed to be open year-round, and is accessible to children and adults.
The water features will only operate in the summer, when attendants are on the premises, according to a news release.
The park, called Splash Water Park, was dedicated last week by Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. Water features will be operational through August, from noon to 5 p.m. daily except Sundays.
The park is intended to be a first phase in improvements to Joslin Recreation Center, at 17 Hyat St., which also has a new basketball court and a rain garden that serves to improve storm water management.
