Webster names O’Connell SVP

BOSTON – Webster Private Bank this month announced Christopher K. O’Connell is its new senior vice president, senior private banker and regional market executive for Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
O’Connell, based out of Webster’s Boston office at 100 Franklin St., will report to Peter Gabriel, senior vice president, director of relationship management and sales with Webster Private Bank, according to a press release.
“Above and beyond his more than 25 years of experience in the wealth management industry, Chris brings exemplary leadership skills to the table,” said Daniel M. FitzPatrick, executive vice president and head of Webster Private Bank, in a statement.
O’Connell, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, served for seven years in the U.S. Army where he underwent airborne, ranger and pathfinder training eventually becoming captain, according to the release. He is now responsible for building out a local private banking team and fostering growth of the private banking industry in the region.
He comes to Webster from Boston Private Bank and Trust Co. where he served as senior vice president and manager of investment sales, according to the release.
“From Boston, Chris will partner with our highly successful Commercial Banking colleagues to extend the Webster Private Bank franchise into Massachusetts and Rhode Island,” FitzPatrick said.
