The Rhode Island Welcome Back Center at Dorcas Place Adult and Family Learning Center was recently given a $5,000 donation by the Rhode Island Health Care Association.
Dorcas Place, founded in 1981, provides literacy, employment, advocacy and community-involvement programs to adults with low incomes in order to help them realize their full potential. The donation will support its Welcome Back Center’s programs to help internationally trained health care professionals earn the proper credentials to continue their careers in the United States.
“We’re thrilled to support a cause that helps place qualified employees in long-term care,” said Virginia Burke, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Health Care Association. “The Center fills a tremendous void in Rhode Island, by helping skilled workers fulfill the requirements necessary to attain meaningful employment in their field.”
The Rhode Island Health Care Association holds claim as the Ocean State’s largest association of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, with 64 member centers. •
