MONTAVALE, N.J. – Westerly and Attleboro are among the 20 communities that will be a part of Benjamin Moore & Co.’s 2013 “Main Street Matters” program, an annual project is designed to renew support for communities and local businesses by presenting a “revitalization package” to all participating neighborhoods that includes the exterior painting of local businesses in two- to three-blocks of the community.
Aside from generating excitement on the voting website, citizens and business owners used social media such as Youtube and Twitter to encourage support for their hometowns.
“We’re thrilled about the enthusiasm and passion from local businesses and communities around Main Street Matters,” Benjamin Moore Chief Marketing Officer David Melancon said in a statement. “The incredible response is a testament to how strongly people feel for their community and we hope this movement continues to drive support for local businesses as every Main Street has a story.”
Benjamin Moore will engage in the project in partnership with various other organizations, including local municipalities and Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Make It Right foundation, a group that builds energy efficient and affordable homes for people in need.
Work for the Main Street Matters projects will extend from this summer through early 2014, according to a company release.
