PROVIDENCE – A popular craft-beer pub in Westerly will expand into a location in the Kinsley Building in downtown Providence, the first commercial tenant confirmed for the former office building.

The Malted Barley opened in Westerly in 2011, according to its website. It will occupy space on the ground-level of the Kinsley Building, according to Joanna Levitt, director of commercial leasing and marketing for the property’s owner, Cornish Associates.

The building at 334 Westminster St. is under renovation and when completed will feature commercial space on the street level, as well as apartments on the four upper floors.

The historic property, built in 1912, will include apartments marketed to people who want to live downtown, at a price point beginning at $900 a month.

The Malted Barley features homemade pretzels, and draft and bottled beer from American craft brewers, including ales, pilsners and lagers from the Berkshire Brewing Company and Jack’s Abby Brewing in Massachusetts, Abita Brewing Company in Louisiana, and Smuttynose Brewing Company in New Hampshire.
