Westport trust gets $85K for Noquochoke land

BOSTON – The Westport Land Conservation Trust last month received an $85,000 grant to protect 32.5 acres of land tied to Noquochoke River Conservation Project.

The funding was awarded as part of $504,117 in grants given through the Mass. Energy and Environmental Affairs Conservation Partnership Grant Program, which were given to seven nonprofits to preserve 212 acres of open space in Massachusetts.

The Westport land connects to the trust’s Forget Pond Conservation area. Combined, the area has 63 acres of protected land.

Other grants will fund projects in Marstons Mills, Middleboro, Ware, West Brookfield, Hampden, Westford and Worcester. •
