What do you think of the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services penalizing R.I. hospitals for excessive patient re-admissions?

The hospitals and entire health care industry need more oversight and closer scrutiny. I had been taking care of my aunt (recently passed away at age 95) and formally made clear to all that her level of care was to be Comfort Measures Only (CMO). On her next to last trip to the hospital, they decided to send her for a CT scan - well beyond the CMO requirement. No one contacted me or her attending physician for approval. None the less, Blue Cross approved the expenditure without question and I'm supposed to pay the co-pay. I assure you they will never see my payment! I'd welcome an opportunity to have a forum to voice my feelings. Then folks wonder why heath care and insurance is "through the roof". It's a clear scam and it appears that everyone in the industry is in on it for their own selfish interest and benefit. Whatever needs to be done to eliminate these excessive and unnecessary procedures should be done!

Joseph - you are correct in your assessment! But what can we expect from a profit-driven health care "system"? It's not about delivering health care; it's about creating profits.
