Will Providence declare bankruptcy before the fiscal year is over?

While Providence Mayor Angel Taveras was able to announce a tentative agreement with Johnson & Wales University last week for increased payments in lieu of taxes, the city’s financial picture is far from rosy.

In fact, the mayor said there was still about a $20 million deficit for the fiscal year, and at the moment, no tools to fix it. Will Providence go the way of Central Falls and declare bankruptcy?
