Woodman Community and Performance Center at Moses Brown to be unveiled Dec. 9

PROVIDENCE – The Woodman Community and Performance Center at Moses Brown School is scheduled to be completed, and unveiled through its first activities, in a housewarming Dec. 9.
The project spanning 18 months of construction will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting and housewarming party that afternoon for students, alumni and parents, according to a notice on the private school’s website. An afternoon of performances is scheduled in the space.
The 36,000-square-foot facility is connected to the Walter Jones Library at the center of the school campus.
Designed by DBVW Architects, the new building has a main hall that can hold an audience of 540, and support exhibitions, workshops, and school and community activities.
General contractor Shawmut Design and Construction started work in June 2015.
The cost of the project has not been disclosed by Moses Brown School. Citizens Bank reported in November 2015 it had approved $27 million in lending to the school to improve its campus, including as partial financing for the performance building.
