PROVIDENCE – The Governor’s Workforce Board was awarded a total of $810,000 to 48 Rhode Island businesses to help provide training for their workers.

The grants, announced Thursday afternoon, will result in the training of nearly 2,700 employees across the state.

Of the 48 grant recipients, a third of the companies agreed to subsidize work experience for young adults and, consequently, qualified themselves for bonus funding.
