PROVIDENCE – In an effort to support health care technology innovators in the Boston-Cambridge area of Massachusetts, Ximedica has partnered with Cambridge MedSpace, the medical technologies firm said this week.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology researcher Nevan Hanumara developed Cambridge MedSpace after recognizing the need for a health care technology incubator space in the Cambridge area. Together with Ximedica, it will look to “create a highly focused environment, with specialized resources and expertise, to enable technology validation, de-risking and acceleration,” according to a news release about the partnership from Ximedica.

Ximedica will serve as a development adviser to Cambridge MedSpace. In addition to taking advantage of Ximedica’s 30 years of experience designing and building in the medical field and its growth platform that allows organizations to deploy medical technology products into the market, Cambridge MedSpace also will have access to a series of workshops and toolkits known as Xilab, now in its third year of operation.

“Cambridge is the East Coast hotbed of health care innovation, with startups and Fortune 500 companies vying for access to new markets, technologies and opportunities. Ximedica is already working with the region’s major hospital groups, universities and the funding community to help bring technologies to market,” Ximedica CEO Randall S. Barko said in a press release. “When Nevan approached us about partnering on MedSpace, it was clear to me that we were a perfect fit. MedSpace brings together all of the necessary assets to concept, design, develop and launch health care solutions. We expect to develop similar partnerships in Minneapolis and on the West Coast.”
