Zoo seeks businesses to sponsor, take part in annual fundraiser

PROVIDENCE – Roger Williams Park Zoo is soliciting businesses and others to participate in its annual fundraising bash, Zoobilee! Feast With the Beasts, set for June 25.
Zoobilee provides a unique way for restaurants to promote and showcase their offerings to the more than 1,400 guests who will attend the evening event for adults aged 21 or older. Businesses that sponsor the event get tickets to party alongside the animals to support the animal care, environmental education and conservation efforts of the zoo.
The 25th annual Zoobilee has a committee of community leaders led by Chairman Patrick Wholey, general manager of WPRI-TV CBS 12 and Fox Providence. This year’s event will feature an exclusive evening with food and drink from dozens of the area’s hottest restaurants, entertainment by the World Premiere Band and other surprises.
Aside from the exposure, participants also benefit from recognition in promotional materials, including email communications to over 75,000 area households, print advertisements and inclusion on the zoo’s website. Roger Williams Park Zoo does not charge establishments to participate in the event, and provides tables, tents, lighting, signage and “serve ware.”
Last year’s Zoobilee raised more than $286,000 for the zoo. Funds generated help underwrite animal care, and environmental education and conservation programs, including the conservation of threatened and endangered species around the world. Also supported by the funds are community outreach efforts like the Zoomobile, which reaches more than 60,000 school-aged children and other participants per year.
