Zoo seeks partners for fundraiser

PROVIDENCE – Roger Williams Park Zoo is seeking area restaurants, businesses and foundations to participate in its annual fundraising bash, Zoobilee! Feast with the Beasts.
Set for June 28, Zoobilee! provides a way for restaurants to promote and showcase their offerings to the more than 1,500 guests who attend. Businesses that sponsor the event get tickets to the party alongside the animals to support the environmental education and conservation efforts of the zoo.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the event, with a committee of community leaders led by Chairman Patrick Wholey, general manager of WPRI-TV Channel 12 and Fox Providence. The June 28 fund raiser will feature an evening of food and drink from dozens of the area’s hottest restaurants, entertainment by the World Premiere band, and other surprises.
The zoo does not charge establishments to participate in the event, but rather provides tables, tents, lighting, signage and all serve ware. Zoobilee! is a 21+ event.
Last year’s Zoobilee! raised more than $260,000 in proceeds for the zoo. Since 1992, the event has raised more than $4 million.
The funds generated help underwrite the zoo’s award-winning environmental education and conservation programs, including the conservation of threatened and endangered species around the world and important community outreach efforts, such as the Zoomobile, which reaches more than 60,000 school-aged children and other participants per year.
Any individual, business or charitable foundation can support Zoobilee! with sponsorship opportunities ranging from $500 to $15,000 or more. Sponsor benefits include early admission tickets to the event as well as special recognition on the night of Zoobilee and in all promotional materials.
