At Home to open first R.I. location in April

WARWICK – A Texas-based big-box retailer of home décor will open its first location in Rhode Island next month.

At Home will open a 111,000-square-foot home décor superstore at 25 Pace Blvd. in Warwick.

Mayor Scott Avedisian is expected to attend the grand opening April 14.

The company, part of At Home Group Inc., of Plano, Texas, sells more than 50,000 items in its stores, including furniture, mattresses, lamps, pillows and rugs.

The company operates 123 stores in 30 states, according to a news release. It anticipates the Warwick store will bring 25 jobs.

The site is a former Sam’s Club. In Seekonk, At Home is renovating another former Sam’s Club, at 1110 Fall River Ave., for a second Providence area location.

Sam’s Club, owned by Wal-Mart, closed the stores in February 2016 as part of a national retrenchment.
