Michael Mello joined Providence Business News as managing editor in November 2007. He previously had been a staff writer at The Providence Journal and had held a variety of other editorial positions, including working for The Associated Press in Providence and the Ottaway News Service in Washington, D.C. Mello holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.
