Francine Newth, an associate professor of management at Providence College’s School of Business, has penned a new book, “Business Models and Strategic Management: A New Integration,” as part of a collection of 13 targeted books that has been acquired by university libraries worldwide and also is available as a corporate learning tool.

Jo-Ann Schofield, president and chief operating officer of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership, was recently appointed to a national advisory panel for mentoring. As a member of The Mentoring Partnership Advisory Council, Schofield and her colleagues from around the nation will focus on topics in the areas of quality-based mentoring, resource development, public awareness, public policy and research. Schofield, who recently earned a certificate of nonprofit studies from Rhode Island College, describes herself as a lifelong learner. She has been mentoring a child for three years who is currently in fourth grade.

Andera Inc.’s 15,000-square-foot headquarters in Providence’s Gateway Center makes use of common areas instead of the traditional cubicle layout surrounded by private offices. The company says the open-design concept uses about 30 percent less space than traditional offices.
