The U.S. Department of Labor is officially ending its suspension on new enrollments in the nation’s federal Job Corps program, but Sen. Jack Reed said that he remains “deeply concerned” that sequestration and financial mismanagement at the agency could mean fewer available slots for young people.

PROVIDENCE – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Rhode Island a $4 million grant to develop a comprehensive data system on students from prekindergarten through elementary and secondary education, higher education and the workforce.

BOSTON – Gov. Deval L. Patrick last week announced $6.84 million in Workforce Training Fund grants to 87 Massachusetts companies, including several in Bristol County. The grants, which support up to two years of training, will create 682 new jobs and train more than 6,300 workers, Patrick said.
