The Rhode Island Health Care Association, which represents long-term care providers in the state, primarily for-profit nursing homes, is accepting applications until July 15 for its annual awards program, which recognizes special contributions to the nursing home profession.
The entries will be reviewed blindly by an awards committee, and the winners will be recognized at RIHCA’s annual Trade Show Awards Luncheon on Sept. 18.
The categories are:
Distinguished administrator, to someone practicing with the highest professional standards, with evidence of improved patient care, community involvement, commitment to education, and/or research in long-term care.
Public service, for a person who has served in government – elected, appointed or in civil service – and has increased public awareness of long-term care.
Distinguished service, for outstanding contributions of time, energy and resources to advance the image, understanding and purpose of long-term care.
Volunteer award, to an individual or program whose services have enhanced the lives of nursing home residents on a sustained basis.
Distinguished CNA, to a certified nursing assistant who has gone “above and beyond the call of duty in rendering compassionate care.”
Distinguished associate member, to a business, consultant or vendor that consistently exceeds expectations and contributes time and energy with integrity to long-term care and as an advocate for the elderly.
The TRM Spirit Award, presented to an individual working in long-term care who displays “energy and enthusiasm” toward enhancing the lives of nursing home residents.
