Rhode Island Public Radio Announces New Board Members

Providence, RI. – Rhode Island Public Radio today announced the election of four new Board Members. Cathy Lund of Providence, Susan Lovejoy of Wakefield, John “Jack” Partridge of Providence, and Julie Sharpe of Saunderstown have been appointed to the Rhode Island Public Radio board of directors.

"Rhode Island Public Radio is pleased to welcome Cathy, Susan, Jack, and Julie to our board of directors," said WRNI general manager, Joe O’Connor, "Their leadership skills, experience and passion for public radio in The Ocean State will help tremendously as we work to build our audience and improve the quantity and quality of NPR programming and local news broadcast on 1290 AM in Providence and 102.7 FM in Southern Rhode Island."

Cathy Lund, DVM, owns and operates City Kitty Veterinary Care for Cats, a cat practice located in Providence, RI. She is also the board president and founder of the Companion Animal Foundation, a statewide, veterinary-based nonprofit organization that helps low-income pet owners afford essential veterinary care. She lives on the Southside of Providence, and serves on several architectural and preservation commissions in the city, and is always delighted to extol the virtues of the “purr-fect” pet, the cat.

Susan Lovejoy has been a professional educator since 1980. She has served as a teacher, administrator and consultant for independent schools in Ohio and New England and currently serves as chair of the board of a junior independent school in Chicago. Susan formerly served as a board member and volunteer educator for Planned Parenthood in New York State. She and her husband Paul have a home in Matunuck, where they are active with the South Kingstown Land Trust.

John J. Partridge is Senior Counsel at Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP in Providence. He is the co-chairman of the Pawtucket Foundation, serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket, is a member of the Finance Committee and President’s Council at Providence College, and the treasurer of the Ocean State Charities Trust. He is a past Chairman of the Board for Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Common Cause of Rhode Island, and Old Slater Mill Association. Jack is also an accomplished author. His two crime novels, Carom Shot and Straight Pool, published by Chukar Books, are both set in Rhode Island. He lives in Providence with his wife Regina.

Julie Sharpe is engaged in issues affecting water quality and land conservation. She has served on the boards of the Narragansett Conservation Commission, the Narrow River Preservation Association, Historic New England, and the Rhode Island Natural History Survey. She is currently the President of the Narrow River Land Trust and a founder of the Conservation Stewardship Collaborative. She lives in Saunderstown with her husband Henry and two children.
