CVS CAREMARK STORES could get a marketing push from a new ad agency once the company finishes a review of its strategy.

WOONSOCKET – Four agencies are vying for CVS Caremark Corp.’s marketing contracts, Adweek reported this week.

The trade publication said the contenders are Mindshare and MediaCom – both units of WPP Plc – Omnicom Group Inc.’s OMD and Interpublic Group of Cos.’s Universal McCann.

CVS’s current marketing firm, Interpublic’s Boston-based Hill Holliday division, decided not to pursue the contract after CVS started a review of its marketing in January.

CVS Caremark is conducting separate reviews of its media and creative contracts. The company spent more than $180 million on domestic measured media in the last two years, according to Nielsen figures cited by Adweek.
