MANSFIELD – Luggage maker Samsonite Corp. will mark its 100th anniversary this year with an advertising campaign created by the Boston firm Connelly Partners.
Connelly plans to create a Web site commemorating Samsonite’s century in business and emphasizing the look and durability of its products later this spring.
“We look forward to re-connecting the world to Samsonite, reminding them of what made the brand great and global in the first place, and introducing them to the incredibly cool innovations Samsonite has developed and integrated into their new collections,” Steve Connelly, the ad agency’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
Founded in 1910 in Denver, Samsonite moved its corporate headquarters from Colorado to Mansfield in 2006. The company had transferred its 120-worker North American marketing, sales and operations office to Mansfield from Warren the year before.
The company was bought by CVC Capital Partners Ltd., a private equity firm, in October 2007 in a $1.7 billion leveraged buyout. Its U.S. retail division, Samsonite Co. Stores LLC, has closed stores after filing for bankruptcy protection last September.
