Historic property in Wayland Square sells for $975K

PROVIDENCE — An 1895 brick-end Colonial has sold for $975,000 in Providence’s Wayland Square neighborhood.
It originally was listed at $1.2 million in June 2016, according to online records.
The house, at 49 Orchard Ave., was designed by George F. Hall of the Providence-based architecture firm Martin & Hall. The historic property was built as his private residence and is part of a row of houses built for the city’s wealthy residents at the turn of the century.
Occupying two lots and set in a garden, the house retains its original millwork and custom details, according to a description provided by Residential Properties Ltd., which represented the seller and the buyer.
