PROVIDENCE – Before there was FM Global, there were four separate insurance companies.

But 1999 changed all that. That was the year those companies and their jointly owned engineering and research affiliate merged. And it was Enzo Rebula’s job to knit all four staffs together into a high-functioning whole.

Nearly two decades on it would be difficult to know that FM Global was ever anything but one company, thanks in large measure to the efforts of the company’s senior vice president for human resources. The separate cultures, policies, job structures and compensation packages are all one whole now, something the company’s 94 percent employee retention rate testifies to. Forbes has named it one of “America’s Best Employers.”

As for the company’s performance, FM Global now has customers and staff across the globe, all the while receiving top ratings from independent evaluations in the industry on a regular basis. And its client retention rate of 95 percent is well above the industry standard. Neither result could have been accomplished without an engaged workforce. And that is just how Rebula wants it. And for that effort, he has been named the Career Achiever in the 2017 Providence Business News C-Suite Awards program.
