As part of this summer’s Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative, Opera Providence will hold a free performance Sunday in Hopkins Park. The second of five park performances slated for this summer includes celebrated songs from The Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas, featuring Leah Kenney, Olivia Mathis, Georgette Ross Hutchins, Kilian Mooney, Nicholas LaRoche, Vinnie Joyce, and Eric Mazonson. The art of opera has been around for more than 400 years and combines storytelling with song. Performances are presented in part by Providence Mayor Angel Taveras.
