The Wickford Art Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend with the work of more than 250 artists from around the country and beyond. Stroll Wickford Village and browse fine arts-paintings, sculptures and photographs Saturday and Sunday. A retrospective exhibit of the festival, “The Way We Were,” will also be on display. The festival is the country’s oldest open-air art fair, which began in the 1960s when local artists starting placing their work on village sidewalks and fences in an attempt to share and sell their works.
