Passenger traffic falls in Feb. at T.F. Green by 4.2%

WARWICK – Passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport fell 4.2 percent in February compared with February 2016, to 236,582 from 246,978, the R.I. Airport Corp. said Friday.

Passenger traffic fell 2.7 percent, to 486,962 in the first two months of the year, from 500,466 during the same period last year.

Among the major airlines, American Airlines had the only increase in passengers in February at 4.8 percent, to 61,049 from 58,259 a year ago. American also held the second-largest market share in February at the airport at 25.8 percent.

All the other major airlines reported declines over the year, with United Airlines posting the largest at 29.3 percent, to 12,545 from 17,743, followed by JetBlue at nearly 14 percent, to 18,724 from 21,766.

Delta Air Lines had a 5.74 percent decline, to 26,900 from 28,538.

Southwest Airlines, with the largest market share at the airport at 48.6 percent, had a 2.6 percent decline over the year, to 114,927 from 118,001. TACV Cabo Verde Airlines had a 2.9 percent drop, to 1,372 from 1,413.

Cargo increased 3.3 percent over the year in February, to 1,817,274 pounds from 1,759,087 pounds in January 2016.
